I’ve always been facinated by the medium of Encaustic. It’s unlimited potential just as the medium of Oil is truly remarkable. Thus in my continuing exploration of the portrait (see other works), the process just lent itself to the medium and vice versa. The individuals presented were taken from the hundreds of photographs I have documented over the years for my Nightscape works and while that series explores the allegory of the concept of home as an internal sense of identity and belonging, I feel these pieces investigate those who are still searching.
